Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her songs online in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. She was officially signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a track that she performed alongside Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. The 9th of November saw her release two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November two singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. The track was released as a single on its own in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February 2019, the video music for the track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just a single week. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
